Ed Schnurr

Partner, Investment Representative

Ed started his career in the investment and insurance industry with London Life in 1986. He holds both his life and mutual fund license. Ed enjoys the life insurance side of the business as it allows him to help protect families and better prepare for the next generation. Having just passed his 30 year anniversary, it is clear that Ed truly enjoys the business and has no plans on slowing down. Originally from Parry sound, Ed moved to Huntsville with his wife Julie in 1986 where they raised four boys. If he isn’t in the office you can find him boating on Georgian Bay.

Brent Stein

Partner, Investment Representative

Brent started his career in the investment and insurance industry after leaving the healthcare sector. During his 15 years in healthcare, he transitioned from a primary care clinician to several sector-lead positions. A respected business coach once told Brent “Financial planning is financial planning. Whether it’s in a health sector lead position that you’re used to, or in a client’s place of business or home, planning is planning”. That helped reassure the transition for Brent where he’s enjoyed the meaningful and collaborative relationships that he’s formed with his clients. Originally from Orillia, Brent and his family reside in the Midland area and have so on and off for the past 20 years. He has 3 beautiful girls that keep him busy between their sporting and social events. Time away from the office usually includes connecting with his parent’s just North of Orillia or travelling to races with his brother Mark.

Kelly Schnurr

Partner, Investment Representative

Kelly began his career with 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry building relationships with clients where he earned various honors and awards of excellence. In 1996, Kelly joined London Life and in November 2012, he joined his brother Ed at Unity Group Financial. He continues to enjoy spending time with clients—both families and business owners—and helping them plan for all eventualities. With closer relationships comes a better understanding of a client’s wants and needs and therefore the ability to build an insurance and investment portfolio to reflect this and build for the future. Kelly holds both his Life Insurance and Mutual Funds licenses. Originally from Parry Sound, Kelly and his wife Marlen moved to Orillia in 1996 where they raised their four children. Their family enjoys all outdoor activity, especially boating on Georgian Bay.

Cooper Schnurr

B.A., MM, CHS, CEA | General Manager, Investment Representative

Cooper has an undergraduate degree in economics and a Master’s degree in Management and Finance. Cooper uses this skillset to better enhance the overall capacity and service of the business. This allows for the coordination of advisors across regions and allows for exceptional service of all clients by our advisors. Cooper has a passion for the investment side of the business which is evident through his continued education and ambition for improving himself and the firm.

Andrew Gibson

Andrew has worked in the financial services industry since 2008. During this time, Andrew has had the opportunity to support business owners, executives and professionals by delivering customized investment solutions. Andrew is currently working as an investment consultant with Freedom 55 financial security advisors. Previously, Andrew worked at a private equity firm as a marketing manager, responsible for sales in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta, raising capital with an independent network of financial advisors. Andrew has an extensive knowledge of the High Net-Worth Market and his specialization is in customizing solutions to derive sustainable long term income for retired clients.

Brad joined Great-West Life in 2013 and is focused on providing product knowledge, creative sales ideas and industry insight to Freedom 55 Advisors.

Kelvin K.C. Wong

Kelvin joined Great-West Life in 2012. As a Private Wealth Counsellor, Kelvin works with the client’s financial security advisor as a team to develop and implement a customized investment and estate plan, providing expert guidance to help preserve, build and transfer wealth.
Prior to joining Great-West Life, Kelvin held a variety of increasingly responsible positions in the investment industry. He has worked as an account manager and a financial planner for Schedule A banks. Most recently Kelvin has worked as a sales director for a large private investment firm.
Kelvin has completed Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2006. He has also completed the Professional Financial Planning course, Canadian Securities course and Canadian Insurance course.
